From 27 May to 21 September 2025 the Museo Nacional del Prado and Fundación AXA are presenting the first major monographic exhibition in Spain devoted to Paolo Veronese, one of the most brilliant and admired masters of the Venetian Renaissance.

Curated by Miguel Falomir, director of the Museo del Prado, and Enrico Maria dal Pozzolo, professor at the Università degli Studi di Verona, the exhibition highlights the pictorial intelligence of a superlative artist who created a unique formal universe; a painter with an all-embracing concept of art that encompassed an infinite number of aesthetic and cultural references which he expressed with enormous formal and conceptual freedom.

From 10 June to 14 September 2025 Rooms C and D of the Jerónimos Building at the Museo Nacional del Prado will be displaying So far, so close: Guadalupe, Mexico, in Spain, a unique exhibition that examines the close connection between the two countries through the figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The exhibition is curated by the Mexican university professors Jaime Cuadriello (UNAM) and Paula Mues Orts (INAH).

This project, which has benefited from the collaboration of the Viceregal Art Committee of the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado and the sponsorship of Rassini, brings together nearly 70 works, the majority from Spanish collections, and includes important items made in New Spain in order to recount the significance of the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and its emergence as a transatlantic devotional and political icon.

La noche del 6 de septiembre, gracias a la colaboración de Samsung, se podrá disfrutar de las dos exposiciones de la temporada: “Paolo Veronese (1528-1588)”, la primera gran muestra monográfica dedicada en España a uno de los maestros más brillantes del Renacimiento veneciano y patrocinada por la Fundación AXA; y “Tan lejos, tan cerca. Guadalupe de México en España”, exposición que cuenta con la colaboración de la Comisión Arte Virreinal de la Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado y el patrocinio de Rassini.

Until 11 January 2026, Room 60 of the Villanueva Building at the Museo Nacional del Prado will host selected works by Antonio Muñoz Degrain (1840–1924), one of the most original Spanish artists of the 1800s.

The ten paintings on display—five of them recently restored—illustrate the thematic variety, technical skill and aesthetic vision of the Valencian painter. A nearby showcase contains the acceptance speech “on sincerity in art” given when he was inducted into the Academia de San Fernando (1899), a drawing donated to the collections, and a photograph of his portrait by the sculptor Miguel Blay.

This show is part of a programme that aims to promote the museum's nineteenth-century collections, the most numerous group of paintings at the Prado, which since 2009 has featured different artists, media and contexts in small single-theme exhibitions.
